T shirts are one of this decades most widely worn articles of clothing for both men and women. Men seem to wear t shirts though for longer periods than women because they can also wear them as underwear during the cold freezing months of winter.
Men's t shirts can be worn under a shirt and close to the body so that no body warmth is lost to the elements. Cold winds can whip through articles of clothing, so to have something warm hugging the body and holding in the body's heat is a welcome and warming comfort.
Women don't seem to wear a t shirt for this reason and will often prefer to wear thermal underwear. Whether this may be because women fear appearing fatter or because they prefer the extra warmth is probably more a vanity decision as much as a decision for warmth. I have lived in a Canadian winter and I wore both simultaneously but then again I'm an Aussie and I was very, very cold.
Men can wear t shirts this way and they look hot and sexy while the extra body hugging warmth makes them appear very cool dudes.
Mens t shirts can be worn during the hot summer months of an Australian summer and because a light weight weave in the fabric allows air flow around the man's body, this cooling mechanism works very well and they still look 'hot stuff' while dressing very cooly. Also the weave in the fabric is very absorbent and is very good at absorbing body sweat which makes the t shirt damp and acts as a further cooling feature within the t shirt. Dampness plus a slight breeze is great for cooling the body down.
The fabric is woven for t shirts to match the climate in which it will be marketed. There is absolutely no market for a light weave t shirt in a Northern hemisphere winter while there is absolutely no market for a heavy weave t shirt in an Australian summer. That is another of the versatility adaptions of the t shirt as an article of clothing suitable for all climates and all socio-economic communities.
Men's t shirts can be dressed up to go to the Bosses BBQ or dressed down to go fishing and still look hot while being cool and sexy.
